We are a sustainable wood manufacturer from Chennai, India, we design durable wooden toys whose reduced design leaves plenty of room for the development of children’s creativity. In this way, new fantastic play worlds can arise time and again that keep pace with children’s development. When developing products, we are guided by Waldorf education and other reform pedagogical approaches such as Montessori.
Our products are always unique, with unique traces from nature. With a few exceptions, everything is sanded and sawed by hand – this gives a different expression than pure “machine goods” and supports the uniqueness of each piece.
We design durable toys whose simple and reduced shapes, combined with beautiful colours and inviting haptics, are suitable for all age groups – products that inspire new play over and over again. All raw materials go through our quality assurance
We love wood, because wood is a natural product and always bears unique traces, which then flow into the respective products and make them unmistakable. Hakkinen Toys products are always unique with individual traces from nature. Different structures in the wood grain and colour deviations are evidence of a natural product and thus a quality feature and not a defect.

Need for Wooden Toys
In our opinion, children’s toys are not just there to keep children busy, that is, to have something to do. Above all, it is important to us that they receive toys that are appropriate to their age and development. The children’s imagination should also be stimulated. It is the creative potential that can be available to a person throughout life. Beautiful, artistically designed toys that are made of natural materials and of good quality also promote the sense of beauty and what quality actually means. We also consider this to be an important task in our “throwaway society.”
In line with our philosophy of helping children and the efficacy of using wooden toys as teaching tools we created innovative toys for children. We found plastic to be the main raw material used for making toys and we all know the deleterious effects of plastic for children as well as the environment. We hit upon the idea of creating toys with wood as raw material. Wood is infinitely safer than plastic and highly suitable for making children’s toys.
Numerous research studies on the efficacy of using toys as an educational tool have concluded that teaching with toys is a tried and tested method to supplement the school’s efforts in educating young minds. Among others, educational toys can improve motor skills, cognition, hand-eye coordination, spatial reasoning and engineering skills. Teaching with toys improves the social and language skills of the child besides developing the ability to indulge in creative thinking developing diverse ideas. One of the major beneficiaries of teaching with educational toys is the subject of Mathematics. Children can develop skills in Mathematics indirectly through spatial reasoning and spatial ability which are known to benefit from educational toys.
